Water Watcher

STAK Enterprises' 520-002A WaterWatcher are "electronic float" switches that are designed to work on the floor. Appliance automatic shut OFF switch. The WaterWatcher is versatile in its ability to prevent water disasters. Its floor sensor is very sensitive and can detect many types of liquid (soap, pop, milk, and condensate from dehumidifiers). This makes the 520-002A Pump Switch many times more reliable than float switches and, because it's electronic, it has features that just aren't available in mechanical switches, such as the alarms that are described below. When it does detect liquid where it's not supposed to be, the WaterWatcher's control module can turn off whatever is leaking. It will cut the power as a switch does to the device causing the flood. Like the inlet valve to the water cooler, the dishwasher, the washing machine, or the solenoid valve to the automatic coffee maker in your home or office, under sink pump, aquarium, just to name a few. If a problem is detected, the WaterWatcher will NOT automatically reset itself. It will only reset itself after you unplug it and plug it back in once the problem has been resolved. A "low cost" solution to avoid a "high cost" problem. Be sure to check the power rating of the appliance compared to the rating of the WaterWatcher.

In other words this detector acts like a level switch, turning off the appliance pump if there is a leak.
