When picking a fire high pressure water pump you need to consider the pressure at a given flow rate that is reasonable with the size and length of your discharge hose (friction = pressure loss). Most pumps are rated with maxium head / pressure and flow, but these are the end points of the pump performance curve, you need to look at a give mid point on the curve. IE not all 5hp pumps perform the same.
