Diaphragm Pumps

As the name says, Diaphragm pumps use a diaphragm to create suction, pulling the fluid (high viscosity liquid or water with debris is okay) to fill the vacuum created when the diaphragm is expanded. Using check valves, the water is forced out the discharge hose when the motor compresses the diaphragm. With each cycle, the water is alternately sucked in and then discharged.

To create the vacuum, the diaphragm pump creates positive displacement with a combination of the reciprocating action of a rubber, thermoplastic or Teflon diaphragm and suitable non-return check valves to pump a fluid. Sometimes this type of pump is also called a membrane pump. A membrane made of elastomers or TFE, which flexes to produce pumping action.

The diaphragm is sealed with one side in the fluid to be pumped, and the other in air. The diaphragm is flexed, causing the volume of the pump chamber to increase and decrease, drawing in the fluid. A pair of non-return check valves prevent reverse flow of the fluid.

Diaphragm pumps: have good suction lift characteristics, have good dry running characteristics, are low-shear pumps, can handle highly viscous liquids, cause a pulsating flow.

Diaphragm Pump Manufacturers

The 15 Models below are made in USA by AMT with Honda or Briggs gasoline engine or Electric diaphragm pump with motor. We carry multiple manufacturers in addition to AMT, such as All-Flo, Whale, Hypro, and Tsurumi.

They are manufactured with a durable design with enclosed gears in oil bath, self-cleaning flow path, dry run without damage, and auto priming. Some models include built in polyurethane flapper/check valve assures self-priming to 20 feet providing steel suction strainer, two NPT hex nipples and wheel kit with 10" semi-pneumatic transport wheels for portability.

Diaphragm Pump Applications

Gas, Diesel or Electric diaphragm pump, or mud pump sludge pump. Easily maneuverable, the gas diaphragm pump is built for performance; Ideal for seepage dewatering, high suction lift, cleaning septic tanks, pumping industrial waste and marine tanks, small wellpoint systems, and dewatering in sandy, muddy waters.

Diaphragm Mud pump Suction & discharge port size cannot be reduced. Cast aluminum construction with a thermoplastic rubber diaphragm. Also called a mudhog. 90 degree rotatable base on all models to fit through narrow gates. As an alternate in a centrifugal pump dredge pump design see 316F-95 2" mud pumps. Trash pumps, centrifugal Dredge Pump. Hoses and accessories.

WARNING: Do not use in explosive atmosphere or for pumping volatile flammable liquids.

See "Impeller No." in description for curve letter designation.
